We had too many centers try out.  Some were great, some were so-so, and some were just awful.  Here's a selection for you to check out.

Here are the final choices for the front line.

Sarah Jordan of Roanoke, VA

Viola Logan of Virginia Beach, VA

Christine Bunker of Denver, CO

Joni Cook of Wichita, KS

Sharon Goode of Jacksonville, IL

Fonda Corbett of New York, NY
Doreen Moore of Boston, MA, with her trainer,  Martha Howard (L)

Marguerite Bolte of Rome, GA

Eva Hicks of Elsie, MI
Doreen Holliday of Altamont, NY

Lillie Edwards of San Luis Obispo, CA

and finally, Martha Howard of Los Angeles, CA.

Anita Hooker of Gilcrest, CO shows once again why officials have written special rules to protect the kickers.
They want to avoid a lot of soft-tissue injuries.

There was talk of a mixed naked football league, but it seems that view of the center by the quarterback is downright dangerous.  Here quarterback Tom Orlinski of Pittsburgh demonstrates the difficulty he had with Patty Clarke of Sundale, VA as his center.

We asked Mary Johnson of Oregon, OH (top) and Sherry Cornelius of Coalville, UT (bottom) to come in to try out for the center position because of their fierce competitiveness.  Not bad, huh?

Kickers need to work hard on their flexibility.  Here Margaret Starr of Scarsdale, CT shows us her flex workout.

A lot of the centers we've had trying out don't seem to have the size necessary for the position.  Not so Kelly Wells of Los Angeles.

If you want to go with a tackle with attitude, go with Katherine Paredes of Garner, NC.  She won't let you down (even if you try to get down).

No one can argue that Martha Howard of Los Angeles has exceptional form, and she's a great blocker.

Lillie Edwards of San Luis Obispo, CA has the speed and the bulk, but does she have the aggressiveness that's necessary for an offensive linesperson?

Front Line Tryouts:
Defensive end Doreen Holliday of Altamont, NY wants to prove her worth.  She wears goggles on the field.

And here Marguerite Bolte of Rome, GA takes some advice from her trainer (unidentified).

We caught up with center Doreen Moore of Boston in her boyfriend's living room.  She took some time off from her busy schedule to show off her awesome form.

Sometimes age is a benefit when it comes to the mental position of center.  Sarah Jordan of Roanoke, VA has plenty of experience at the position, having played it with a number of teams.

Punter Fonda Corbett of New York, NY shows off the form that made her a star at SUNY Albany.
This illustrates why they had to make special rules about roughing the kicker in the girls' league.

Kicker is a very mental position and requires a lot of training.  Here Sharon Goode of Jacksonville, IL on the left takes some advice from trainer Eva Hicks (right).

And here's "little" Joni Cook of Wichita, KS.  Her ironic nickname belies the fact that she made over 20 tackles her last season at KSU.
